The MAX6635MSA+ is a 12bit plus sign temperature sensors with SMBus/I2C compatible serial interface in 8 pin NSOIC package. It combines temperature sensor, programmable overtemperature alarm and SMBus/I2C compatible serial interface in to a single package. The device converts its die temperature into digital values using internal ADC. The result of conversion is then held in a temperature register as a 12bit plus sign value which allows 0.0625°C resolution and can be readable at any time through serial interface. The MAX6635 has shutdown mode that saves power by turning off everything except power-on reset (POR) and serial interface. The MAX6635 has two address pins which allows up to four devices to be connected to a single bus. The device includes an active-low ALERT output, an OVERT output (both open drain) and can function as an upgraded replacement for LM76 in most applications. It is used in battery temperature alarms and PC temperature control.
