TFI 20 / 150 / 300 Power Line Surge Filters
TRACO Power TFI series Power Line Surge Filters are available with 20, 150 and 300 watt ratings. When placed in front of any DC/DC converter, the TFI filter clamps momentary over-voltage transients to a safe value, protecting the converter from being damaged. During normal operation, the output voltage follows the input voltage (V out = V in - 2V DC typ.) up to 168V DC where the voltage is actively clamped. The TFI surge filters handle the strict definition laid-out in the RIA12 standard allowing transients up to 20ms at 385V DC. This level of protection is specifically required in railway applications where high voltage transients are expected but can also be used for 72V DC, 96V DC, and 110V DC battery systems in railway applications.
