The Texas Instruments bq24090 and bq24091 1A, single-input, single cell Li-Ion battery chargers are highly integrated devices targeted at space-limited portable applications. TI bq24090 and bq24091 battery chargers operate from a USB port or AC adapter and provide 1% charge voltage accuracy and 10% charge current accuracy. The high input voltage range and input overvoltage protection provided by these TI devices supports low-cost unregulated adapters. The TI bq24090x has a single power output that charges the battery. A system load can be placed in parallel with the battery as long as the average system load does not keep the battery from charging fully during the 10-hour safety timer. The bq24090 and bq24091 are ideal for use in a variety of applications, including smart phones, PDAs, MP3 players, and low-power handheld devices.
